Executive Director of Dix Park City of Raleigh – Raleigh, NC, United States Job Overview Provides strategic leadership for the continued transformation of Dix Park into a premier urban destination within the Raleigh Parks system. This role manages a dynamic team, oversees park operations, programming, and customer experience, and plans for future development. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop staff in a high‑performing, collaborative environment. Implement the Dix Park Master Plan, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with the long‑term vision. Support programming that enhances cultural, recreational, and educational experiences in line with park themes. Manage park operations, including coordination with maintenance and facilities staff, vendor relationships, and service contracts. Build and maintain partnerships with city departments, nonprofit organizations, Dix Park Conservancy, community stakeholders, and private‑sector partners. Prepare and administer the park’s budget, manage capital improvements and bond programs, and oversee annual operating revenue and expenses. Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Art History, Historic Preservation, History, Museum Studies, or a related field; 5 to 7 years of experience in art history, historic preservation, museum management, or a related field. An equivalent degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a related field is also considered. A combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated success managing large‑scale projects within complex organizational structures. Experience working within or alongside municipal government structures and public‑private partnerships. Strong financial management and budgeting expertise. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder‑engagement skills. Familiarity with transformational public‑space projects. Licensing & Certifications Valid North Carolina Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
