Job TitleMaintenance TechnicianJob DescriptionPerforms a variety of activities in the maintenance, construction, and repair of utility mains and facilities. This is a semiskilled position, working under the direct supervision of the immediate supervisor and crew leader. High School Diploma / GED. No experience is required. On the job training is provided to obtain required licenses. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Overtime opportunities.Essential Job DutiesPerforms repairs to water distribution systemsInstalls and maintains service linesOperates a variety of trucks and equipmentOperates a variety of hand and power toolsResponds to after-hours calls when serving on-callThese essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed.Typical RequirementsEducation / Experience:High School Diploma / GED.License, Certifications, or Registrations:Valid driver's license and good driving record.Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP).Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire, a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire, a Florida Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License.Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:Knowledge of and skill in the use of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in pipe fitting.Knowledge of the construction and repair of utility facilities.Knowledge of water and sewer systems.Ability to work from sketches, maps, and blueprints.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Good physical ability.Strength to do heavy lifting and carrying and to work under adverse weather conditions.Ability to operate various types of power tools and equipment used to install, maintain, or repair utility mains and services.Ability to work on-call.Supplemental InformationThis job description is not intended to be and should not be construed as an all-inclusive list of all the responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with the position.
