Key Responsibilities of the RN - Psychiatric

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients
• Make nursing diagnosis of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans
• Administer and note reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications
• Arrange further medical attention when necessary
• Assist the client in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients
• Test for vital signs of pain and ensure treatments
• Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician's orders
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient treatments
• Perform administrative assignments like filing, answering phones, and typing progress notes
• Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and members of the public

Requirements of the RN - Psychiatric

• NY License ONLY
• BLS Certification (AHA) ONLY
• Telemetry experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience
