Step into a meaningful role as a paraprofessional providing one-on-one support to a kindergarten student with a visual impairment. In this contract, part-time opportunity, you’ll play a vital part in fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment. Working closely with a vision specialist and RSP teacher, you’ll help empower this young learner to thrive academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or working with students in a school setting
- Familiarity with supporting students who have visual impairments strongly preferred
- Willingness to learn and assist with Braille, with guidance from specialists
- Strong commitment to student safety and well-being
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
What You'll Do:
- Provide direct, individualized support to a kindergarten student with visual impairment throughout the school day
- Assist with safety, movement, and engagement in classroom activities
- Support the implementation of Braille materials and resources as directed by a vision specialist
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and RSP staff to implement educational plans
- Foster independence while ensuring access to learning opportunities for your student
- Adapt and modify materials or activities under supervision to support the student’s unique needs
- Monitor and communicate student progress and challenges to the instructional team
This fulfilling, part-time role runs from 7:55am–11:30am, Monday through Friday, making it a great fit for those seeking a balanced schedule. Compensation for this position begins at $23 per hour.
