• Location: 100% onsite in Tempe, AZ. Remote or hybrid work is not available

• Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM (But there is flexibility)

• Eligibility: Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

\n

Position Summary

\n

The Junior Quality Engineer will work closely with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations to identify quality issues, support root-cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

\n

\n

This position provides an opportunity to develop hands-on experience in AS9100 aerospace quality systems, manufacturing processes, inspection methods, supplier quality, non-conformance management, corrective action, and continuous improvement.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

Quality Systems & AS9100

\n

\n
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the AS9100 Quality Management System .
\n
• Assist with internal audits, process audits, and customer/regulatory audits.
\n
• Support preparation of objective evidence for AS9100 requirements.
\n
• Maintain quality records and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
\n
• Assist with monitoring Quality KPIs and identifying trends requiring corrective action.
\n
• Support document and process changes in accordance with established procedures.
\n

\n

Manufacturing & Product Quality

\n

\n
• Support production and inspection personnel with quality-related issues.
\n
• Review drawings, specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements.
\n
• Assist with determining inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
\n
• Perform or support first-piece, in-process, and final inspections as required.
\n
• Investigate defects and manufacturing process issues.
\n
• Assist in identifying opportunities to prevent defects and improve process capability.
\n
• Participate in production meetings and corrective action activities.
\n

\n

Nonconformance & Corrective Action

\n

\n
• Assist with the identification, documentation, and disposition of nonconforming material.
\n
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action investigations.
\n
• Support 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and other problem-solving methodologies.
\n
• Verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
\n
• Track corrective actions to completion and maintain supporting documentation.
\n
• Analyze quality data to identify recurring defects and improvement opportunities.
\n

\n

Supplier Quality

\n

\n
• Assist with supplier quality issues and corrective actions.
\n
• Review supplier documentation, Certificates of Conformance, inspection reports, and other quality records.
\n
• Support supplier corrective action requests (SCARs).
\n
• Assist with supplier performance monitoring and quality metrics.
\n
• Support supplier audits and qualification activities as required.
\n

\n

Continuous Improvement

\n

\n
• May participate in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement activities .
\n
• Analyze scrap, rework, defects, and other quality data provide recommendations for improvement
\n
• Assist with process improvement projects designed to reduce defects and improve efficiency.
\n
• Support development and implementation of standardized work and inspection methods.
\n

Documentation & Reporting

\n

\n
• Maintain accurate quality records and databases.
\n
• Prepare quality reports, charts, and trend analysis.
\n
• Assist with updating procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and quality forms.
\n
• Ensure quality documentation is accurate, traceable, and properly controlled.
\n

\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering , or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
\n
• 1-3 years of quality or manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
\n
• Basic understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
\n
• Basic understanding of root-cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
\n
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
\n
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, inspection, and management personnel.
\n

\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

\n
• Aerospace manufacturing experience.
\n
• AS9100 or ISO 9001 internal auditor training.
\n
• Experience with 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Pareto analysis, SPC, FMEA, or Control Plans .
\n
• Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) .
\n
• Familiarity with NCR/MRB processes and nonconforming material control .
\n
