Senior Director Process Engineering

Senior Director of Process Engineering at AbbVie sets enterprise direction and technical governance for biologics drug substance and cell-gene therapy manufacturing. The role drives global engineering standards, leads strategic capital investments, and ensures technical excellence across multiple manufacturing sites and technology platforms.
Responsibilities
- Establish and deploy global engineering standards for process engineering, process platform deployment, and manufacturing technology across Strategic Investments
- Provide technical leadership for capital investments including facility builds, platform deployments, and new production capabilities
- Lead technical decision-making on process strategy, design, technical assurance, and project delivery across multiple sites
- Drive resolution of technical issues and ensure appropriate escalation for decisions affecting project, network, or business outcomes
- Share best practices and build capability across sites through mentoring and development of reusable engineering practices
Requirements
- Extensive experience in biologics or cell-gene therapy process engineering and manufacturing
- Demonstrated expertise in process platform strategy, scale-up, and technical governance
- Strong capital project leadership and facility design experience
- Experience establishing and deploying global engineering standards and best practices
- Cross-functional collaboration with operations, quality, validation, and supply chain teams
- Regulatory knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing compliance requirements
