About the Team The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida is a K–12 tuition-free online public school serving students statewide. At VPA Florida, we provide a safe and nurturing environment where every student has the opportunity to be understood and inspired through a customized learning path that includes live interactive sessions and personalized teacher support. We are seeking a highly qualified School Counselor who is dedicated to fostering the social, emotional, and academic development of every student! At ACCEL Schools, we leverage a cutting-edge 21st-century support framework, delivering comprehensive counseling services through innovative online platforms and traditional outreach methods to ensure no student navigates their journey alone. The School Counselor supports overall student success by partnering with staff members and families to inform student specific academic programming, create andmaintaingraduation and career plans, and provide proactive and preventative services. Eligibility: Open to residents in Florida About the Opportunity Deliver proactive guidance curriculum to individuals and groups Respond to individual and group needs with responsive counseling and programming Review transfer student transcripts and informappropriate courseplacements Maintain and review transcripts for active students and inform credit award procedures Create andmaintainstudent graduation plans Provide career readiness curriculum andfacilitatecreation of career plans Deliver Social-Emotional Learning curriculum Create andmaintainStudent 504 plans Analyze student data to provide input onappropriate academicprograms and interventions Travels to support testing efforts and school events within the state as needed Other duties as assigned About You Bilingual strongly preferred Valid State Counselor license Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) yearpreviousexperience in counseling and/or advisement OR equivalent combination of education and experience Experience with the ASCA model Experience with K-12 online learning Experience with Local, State, and Federal laws and mandated reporting Proficiencyin Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products Ability to handle confidential information responsibly andexhibitsound judgment whilemaintainingthat confidentiality Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations and make evidence-based decisions Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistently Customer service oriented Ability to work independently and contribute to a team Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks About Us “We believe that every child should be able to be anything they want in life, regardless of their birthplace and circumstances.” – Ron Packard, CEO & Founder ACCEL Schools is a network of 80+ high-performing, public charter schools serving PK-12 students.
