Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Hospitalist Physician Assistant to join our Orthopaedic Surgery clinic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including hospital rounds in the Desoto area, on call rotation with surgery assistance. This role requires excellent communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Average monthly work schedule is a flexible 15 days on shift and 15 days off shift with coverage every other weekend.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status.
• Perform diagnostic evaluations and develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Administer medications, including injections, and manage acute pain through appropriate interventions.
• Provide care in various specialties such as geriatrics, pediatrics, and urgent care.
• Utilize EMR systems for accurate documentation of patient records and coding (ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT).
• Engage in clinical research and data collection to enhance patient outcomes.
• Manage patients in critical care settings.
• Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care for patients transitioning from inpatient to outpatient settings.
• Conduct triage assessments in emergency room or urgent care environments.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality of patient information.

Physician Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

• Master’s degree required
• Current state Physician Assistant license required
• Strong knowledge base of HIPAA and OSHA required
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
• Patient, compassionate nature
• Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and other nurses
• Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment
• Must be familiar with medical charting system
• Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems preferred
• Prescriptive authorization required
• Disease prevention knowledge required
