Applications Engineer

Benshaw Custom Solutions EngineerThis position is responsible for developing the proposals for Benshaw custom solutions for key accounts and brand partners, initiating the kick-off meetings with engineering once the proposals become orders, and high-level project-management of the orders through front-end communications. This position also requires managing all technical communications to support the proposals and the sales team. The selected candidate shall be capable of rapidly reviewing multiple specifications, prioritize RFQ's based on customer agreements and priorities, and manage all outside communications related to pre-sales and technical questions. The candidate may also need to travel to support the sales team by providing the technical background on Benshaw products. Location: Remote (within the United States)Primary Responsibilities:Works closely with external sales teams and customers to provide application specific designs and solutionsIdentifies and interprets technical requirements, deliverables, dates and other noteworthy programmatic details/constraintsDetermines if the order should be led by a Program Manager and, if so, coordinates handoff and provides support.Reviews contractual terms and conditions and attends bidder's conferences where applicablePrepares total quotation package and provides front end supportMaintains CRM and quote logs for all proposals and key accounts, and provides KPI information for regular business reviews.Provides key insights and guidance to Program Management, commercial teams, and customers regarding product configuration, standardization, and front-end process optimization.Established Success Measures:Sales volume in accordance with annual operating plan targetsOrder (booking) volume targetsPrice quality targets in support of overall business profitability objectivesProject quotation completion KPIs and Accuracy MeasuresPosition Skill and Education Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent educational experience5+ years' experience within application, design, or sustaining engineering or technical sales functionAbility to design and configure complex systems with limited guidanceDemonstrated applications and/or commercial experience with Medium and Low Voltage Starters and DrivesStrong technical skills related to electrical engineering and power electronicsAbility to travel 10% - 20%, depending on customer needsFamiliarity with power electronics equipment including switchgear, soft starters and VFDs.Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlinesAdditional Desired Skills:Proficient with 2-D and 3-D AutoCAD softwareSolidWorks experience a plusExperience operating in an electronics manufacturing environment a plusExcellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of professionalsAbility to work independently to complete milestonesGood time-management skills and ability to set prioritiesStrong commitment to customer service and teamworkSince our founding in 1983, Benshaw has grown to become a recognized leader in the design, development and manufacture of mission critical motor controls and drives.
