Box Truck Driver/ Forklift Operator
Location: Houston, Tx 77067
Pay Rate: $17/ hr.

Job Summary

Our Company is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and professional Box Truck Driver to join our regional distribution team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting, loading, and delivering a diverse range of commercial freight, air cargo, and "Same Day" shipments. You will operate a company-owned 16-to-26-foot box truck, ensuring all goods are delivered safely, on time, and in pristine condition while providing exceptional service to our clients.

• Safe Vehicle Operation: Navigate local and regional routes confidently in a 16' to 26' box truck, strictly adhering to all state, federal, and Department of Transportation (DOT) traffic laws.
• Loading & Securement: Load and unload cargo manually or using warehouse equipment (such as pallet jacks or hand trucks). Properly secure all freight using straps, E-tracks, and load bars to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Pre/Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct rigorous daily vehicle inspections (brakes, tires, fluids, lights) to ensure safety and compliance. Promptly report any mechanical defects or maintenance needs to dispatch.
• Route Optimization: Utilize GPS navigation tools and dispatch instructions to plan the most efficient delivery sequences, minimizing delays from traffic, weather, or road closures.
• Documentation & Delivery Verification: Verify load-related paperwork (bills of lading, delivery orders) for absolute accuracy. Use scanning equipment or mobile apps to log pickups/deliveries, and secure required signatures from receiving parties.
• Customer Relations: Act as the face at delivery and pickup sites. Maintain a polite, professional demeanor when interacting with warehouse personnel, commercial clients, and vendors.
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional experience driving a 24-foot or 26-foot commercial box truck (preferred).
• Licensing: Valid state Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Non-CDL is acceptable for trucks under 26,000 lbs, but a Class B CDL or medical card is a strong plus depending on specific fleet requirements.
• Age Restriction: Must be at least 21 years of age for insurance compliance.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling freight up to 50–70 lbs frequently throughout the day.
• Tech Savvy: Comfortable using mobile apps, scanning hardware, and digital logging devices for route tracking and delivery confirmation.
• Background Screening: Ability to pass a mandatory DOT-compliant drug screening and criminal background check.
  

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

• Regularly entering and exiting a high-profile truck cab and cargo box.
• Exposure to variable outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, snow) during loading/unloading operations.
• Frequent handling of heavy, bulky pallets and packages utilizing dollies and lift gates.
