Anesthesia Technician

The Anesthesia Technician provides essential support within surgical services by assisting anesthesia providers in preparation, maintenance, and operation of anesthesia equipment and supplies. This role involves ensuring patient safety and efficiency during surgical procedures by managing equipment such as cell saver devices, and collaborating closely with the anesthesia and surgical teams. The technician is expected to float between units and participate in on-call rotations including nights, weekends, and holidays to maintain 24-hour coverage. Responsibilities:

• Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and supplies.
• Assist anesthesia providers during surgical procedures to ensure smooth operation of anesthesia delivery.
• Manage and operate specialized equipment such as cell saver devices, as preferred.
• Float between different units as assigned to support anesthesia services.
• Participate in on-call rotations, providing coverage during nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital protocols and safety standards.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care and procedural efficiency.

• Experience with anesthesia equipment and operating room environment.
• Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced, acute care setting.
• Willingness and ability to float between units.
• Availability for on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic knowledge of sterile technique and infection control.

• Experience with cell saver technology.
• Previous experience in a short-term acute care or teaching hospital setting.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as Epic.

• On-call responsibilities include night shift call, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• No overnight night shifts; shifts rotate between early morning and afternoon hours.
• Expected 1:1 staffing ratios during coverage.
• Block schedules are required for coverage planning.

• Shift rotations between approximately 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 3:00 PM.
• Participation in on-call rotations covering nights, weekends, and holidays every few weeks.
• 24-hour coverage model requiring flexibility in scheduling.
