Nuclear Med/PET Technologist

Follow Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety Follow NRC, state regulatory agency, and JCAHO rules and regulations Explain all aspects of examinations to patients at an appropriate level of understanding Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes Perform hot lab responsibilities Clear patients of contraindications and hazards Position patients accurately and ensure their comfort Maintain visual and verbal contact with patients during examinations Complete examination-related forms and enter patient data into the Tech Data Entry program Provide and issue films when appropriate Forward PET-related data to the radiologist after examinations Refilm cases as time allows Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise Clean and resupply equipment and rooms as needed Requirements Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which employed Must be certified in CPR Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB Minimum of one year of prior nuclear medicine experience required Excellent interpersonal skills required Proficient in starting IVs Able to sit and use a computer for extended periods Able to assist patients with mobility difficulties Able to push, pull, and lift at least 25 pounds Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in operating PET equipment and performing nuclear medicine procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Proficient in regulatory compliance and patient data management.
