Job Description

The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering safe patient care by utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role involves providing direct patient care within the defined scope of practice and guiding patient/family education as well as the activities of other nursing personnel. The Registered Nurse ensures that high standards of care are maintained in the Birthplace and is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses. This position also entails creating a safe environment for patients and visitors, and it may require utilizing the chain of command to ensure the well-being of both newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective patient care in the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients and develop appropriate care plans.
• Implement nursing interventions based on the established care plan.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment and adjust care as needed.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
• Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards of practice.
• Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

Qualifications

• Current Nursing License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification
• DCI/BVP Certification
• Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
