Worker TypeRegularJob DescriptionSummaryThe Electrical Engineering Manager, provides direction and management for a team of engineers to support Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System product development. A primary responsibility for the Electrical Engineering Manager is to coordinate with other departments to meet the milestones during product development cycles. One participates in defining and executing the overall engineering product development strategy, budget, team development and evaluation. Monitors developments within related fields of technology to ensure products are innovative and competitive.Position ResponsibilitiesManages all aspects of design and development of electrical projects and oversees the implementation of the technology into finished products to ensure that department goals and objectives are metOversees the design process from design concept through manufacture and develops, coordinates and maintains comprehensive project plans, work schedules and budgetsSelect and assign projects to outside vendors and independent contractors as necessaryAssists with the creation of specification sheets, instructions and other product-related materialsReview and make recommendations on policies and procedures to maximize departmental operating performance and manage fiscal responsibility for the Engineering departmentActively supports commitment to Quality and Safety, and all quality and safety objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvementTrain, oversee and coordinate the work of Engineering Staff to ensure that engineering designs meet product and quality specifications in addition to being detailed, accurate and completed in a timely mannerLeads and influences teams in decision making, schedule adherence and scope managementEnsures that staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training, development, goal setting and performance management on a regular and timely basisProvides mentorship to engineering teamFrequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areasAbility to travel domestically and internationally as needed to meet with vendors to discuss technical issuesOther duties as assignedBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field10 - 12 years of experience in an electrical engineering role, with minimum 5 years managerial experienceExperience in analog electronic design requiredExperience in designing low volume and high-quality electronic productsExperience in PCB and electronic design using softwareAbility to design and develop products from concept through manufacture, analyze and resolve quality assurance issues in a timely mannerAdditional RequirementsProficient with Word, Excel, MS Project and/or other appropriate software or project management toolsDemonstrates strong leadership skills and interacts effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levelsOperates well in a fast-paced organization while handling multiple projects simultaneously, completing assignments within specified timeframesDemonstrates creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practicesHas excellent analytical and organizational skills, be detail oriented.
