Tax Accountant - Indirect

The Opportunity This role is part of our Corporate Finance and Tax team. The successful candidate will be responsible for all transactional tax compliance, audits, and tax technology management for the company’s operations. They will play a key role in developing and maintaining the overall structure and ongoing processes of the indirect tax function. Location This hybrid position is based out of our office in Morgantown, WV. The role will require onsite presence in the office three days per week. What You Will Be Doing Prepare and file all annual reports, business licenses, OH CAT, sales and use, property, and severance tax returns, including payments. Prepare account reconciliations, analyze transactional tax accruals, and submit adjusting journal entries. Prepare data for all state & local tax audits as requested by taxing authorities. Assist with integration of any merger and acquisition activities. Manage and maintain process documentation related to transactional tax. Manage internal and external audit requests. Manage 3rd party service provider and tax consulting relationships. Maintain tax technology interfaces with business systems configurations. Identify opportunities for improvement and application of technology best practices. Your Background Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax or public accounting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analytics tools. Specific experience with Quorum and Blackline is highly preferred. Familiarity with data analytics or robotic process automation (RPA) platforms is a significant plus. A high level of integrity and the ability to manage sensitive, confidential financial data. Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-tax business partners. Proven success in prioritizing multiple high-stakes projects under tight regulatory deadlines. A team-oriented mindset with the desire to take on new responsibilities as the department grows. Physical Requirements Must be able to perform light work – exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
