We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide part-time financial leadership for a family-operated agricultural business based in San Joaquin, California. This position offers a flexible schedule and a high level of independence while supporting a multi-entity farming organization with crops including almonds, pistachios, grapes, and olives. The role works closely with ownership and internal staff to maintain strong financial oversight, deliver accurate reporting, and help guide business decisions.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly closing activities and produce timely financial reports for leadership review
• Reconcile accounts and oversee the general ledger to ensure complete and accurate financial records
• Monitor daily cash activity and contribute to cash planning and liquidity management
• Manage crop-related accounting and prepare operational reports tied to farming activities
• Partner with lenders, financial institutions, and external accounting advisors on reporting and ongoing financial matters
• Support accounting functions across multiple related business entities while maintaining consistency in reporting
• Assist with annual trust reporting, ad hoc analysis, and other special financial projects
• Provide financial support for ownership on transactions such as property purchases, sales, and additional business interests
• Use Famous Software and Excel to maintain accounting records, generate reports, and support informed decision-making
• Work alongside office personnel responsible for payables, receivables, and payroll, while facilitating knowledge transfer during the transition from the current Controller• 15+ years of accounting or controllership experience
• Prior experience in agriculture or farming operations is strongly preferred
• Proficiency with month-end close, financial statements, and year-end reporting
• Hands-on experience with Famous Software is highly preferred
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize and analyze financial data
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access is a plus
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage several responsibilities at once
• Strong communication and organizational skills suited to a small, family-owned business environment
