Together, we help clients develop innovative and sustainable solutions that strengthen coastal communities and ecosystems.Your Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Lead and contribute to coastal engineering, resilience, adaptation, and restoration projects throughout the Bay Area and beyond.Help grow Stantec's coastal practice by building relationships with clients, agencies, and project partners.Manage projects, including scopes, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.Develop coastal adaptation plans, engineering studies, technical analyses, and design solutions.Support and lead proposal pursuits and business development initiatives.Mentor and develop junior staff while fostering a collaborative team culture.Represent Stantec in the coastal community through professional engagement and thought leadership.Your Capabilities and CredentialsWe are looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:Coastal flood risk management and natural HazardsCoastal hydrodynamics and morphologyCoastal vulnerability, and adaptation planningDesign and analysis of coastal structures, ports, harbors, and waterwaysCoastal management, environmental restoration, and enhancementNature-based solutions to address coastal ecosystem restoration and sea-level rise adaptation and resilience.What Makes You a Great FitYou are an experienced professional who combines technical expertise with strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. You enjoy working collaboratively, mentoring others, and helping clients solve complex coastal challenges.Education and ExperienceRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience in coastal engineering, planning, environmental science, environmental policy, geography, landscape architecture, or a related field; or an advanced degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.Demonstrated expertise in coastal engineering, resilience planning, adaptation, or related disciplines.Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.Experience working directly with clients and developing business opportunities.Familiarity with the coastal regulatory and planning landscape in the San Francisco Bay Area.Located in the Bay Area or willing to relocatePreferred Qualifications:Master’s or PhD in Civil, Coastal, Environmental Engineering, Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field.Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.Strong project management experience, with the ability to organize and rally a diverse team to execute projects on schedule and within budget.Established relationships with coastal clients, local public agencies, and regional stakeholders.Demonstrated success winning and delivering coastal engineering, resilience, adaptation, or planning projects in the San Francisco Bay Area.Why Join Stantec?At Stantec, you'll work alongside some of the industry's leading coastal practitioners on projects that matter. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
