This role offers hands‑on experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and healthcare finance, with exposure to hospital operations and public sector accounting standards. Reporting to the Director of Finance, Clinical Records and Decision Support, the Finance Associate supports core financial processes and contributes to timely, accurate reporting that informs decision‑making across the organization. Working closely with the Finance Analysts and other team members, the Finance Associate will develop foundational skills in accounting, financial reporting, and healthcare systems while assisting with financial reporting, budgeting processes and Ministry submissions. This position offers valuable exposure to hospital operations, public sector accounting standards, and Ministry reporting requirements, with opportunities for learning and professional growth. This role is well‑suited for someone who is detail‑oriented, eager to learn, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with preparing and submitting required remittances and reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) Prepare and complete reconciliations, ensuring all balances are accurate and discrepancies are resolved Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with applicable accounting standards, assist with reconciliations and investigate variances Assist with month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end financial processes Support Finance Analysts with financial and statistical reporting, including preparation of journal entries and reports Investigate discrepancies and follow up to ensure corrections are made Maintain daily cash projections, including payments, deposits, and line of credit tracking Provide support during budget preparation and financial planning activities Prepare monthly HST reconciliations and returns Complete year‑end reconciliations and supporting documentation Assist with Ministry and external reporting requirements (e.g., MIS Trial Balance) Reconcile general ledger accounts and identify irregularities for review Provide support to internal departments such as Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable Prepare invoices for external partners as required Verify and reconcile activity for Patient Resident Trust accounts monthly Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and data integrity Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (required) 1–2 years of accounting or related experience (co‑op or internship experience considered) Interest in pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset Experience in healthcare or public sector environments is an asset Familiarity with financial systems (e.g., Meditech) is an asset Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from team members Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and professionalism Commitment to confidentiality, data integrity, and workplace safety Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset North Bay Regional Health Centre is committed to providing accessible employment practices that are in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
