PROJECT ENGINEER – CIVIL CONSTRUCTION
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Engineer to support our Project Managers and field operations from project startup through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, log, and track RFIs
- Manage submittals and material approvals
- Maintain current plans, drawings, specifications, and addenda
- Assist Project Managers with project startup and kickoff
- Maintain organized project documentation and electronic project folders
- Track subcontractor and supplier documentation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Identify and build relationships with new qualified suppliers and subcontractors that support Arreis's civil scopes
- Request and compare supplier and subcontractor quotes, pricing, lead times, availability, and capabilities
- Maintain regular communication with key suppliers and subcontractors throughout projects
- Help expand Arreis's supplier and subcontractor network to improve pricing, availability, responsiveness, and project execution
- Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules
- Track quantities, production, and installed work
- Assist with project schedules and look-ahead schedules
- Prepare and maintain meeting minutes and action-item logs
- Track potential change orders and change events
- Assist with pricing documentation and backup for change orders
- Assist with pay applications and monthly billing documentation
- Maintain project photo and daily-report records
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and clients
- Track testing and inspection requirements
- Maintain RFI, submittal, procurement, change-order, and closeout logs
- Assist with project cost tracking and committed-cost documentation
- Support project closeout, including warranties, as-builts, testing reports, final documentation, and owner requirements
- Help ensure project records are complete, current, and properly organized
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, accountable, relationship-driven , and comfortable working in both the office and field.
Candidates should have:
- Experience in construction, engineering, project coordination, or project management
- Civil construction experience preferred
- Understanding of construction plans and specifications
- Ability to read civil drawings
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer skills
- Experience with construction project-management software preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
- Strong follow-up and documentation skills
- Ability to establish professional relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, engineers, and field personnel
- Ability to negotiate and communicate regarding pricing, availability, lead times, project requirements, and delivery expectations
- Willingness to visit active construction sites as required
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:
Underground Utilities • Water • Sanitary Sewer • Storm Drainage • Earthwork • Concrete • Site Development • Municipal Construction • Public Works
Role Expectations
This is not strictly an administrative position. The Project Engineer is expected to understand what is happening in the field while ensuring that project information, materials, RFIs, submittals, quantities, changes, procurement, and closeout requirements are properly tracked.
The Project Engineer is also expected to actively strengthen Arreis Construction Group's supplier and subcontractor network . This includes developing new relationships, maintaining existing relationships, obtaining competitive pricing, understanding vendor capabilities, and helping ensure Arreis has reliable resources available for current and future projects.
The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent:
