Arrhythmia Scope Technician - ICU | Full-Time, A-Shifts

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing critical support in a busy telemetry unit. As an Arrhythmia Scope Technician, you will play a vital role in monitoring cardiac rhythms and supporting nursing staff with clerical and communication duties.

General Summary

This position involves continuous observation of telemetry monitors, ensuring patient safety by identifying rhythm changes and maintaining proper function of cardiac monitoring equipment. You will serve as a key communication hub within the nursing station, coordinating with clinical staff and ancillary departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention measures.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms closely, recognizing and reporting significant changes promptly.
• Ensure all telemetry equipment is operational and notify staff of any issues.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, printing, copying, charge entry, and supply management to support unit operations.
• Maintain accurate patient identification on charts and prepare records for scanning.
• Document rhythm changes during treatments and post telemetry strips regularly.
• Keep patient information boards current and answer phones with professionalism and courtesy.
• Collaborate with team members and ancillary departments to schedule tests and procedures efficiently.
• Adapt positively to changes while upholding organizational values and policies.

Education

High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience

At least one year of experience in clerical, receptionist, or hospital support roles is preferred. Strong organizational, time management, and basic computer skills are essential.

Certification/License

Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia course upon hire is required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity including walking, standing, lifting up to 35 lbs, and various movements such as turning, stooping, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Expect frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is typical.
