Residential Shift Leader Men’s Treatment (Full-Time)

We provide innovative and compassionate services to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Residential/Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Community Programs. Location: All Straight & Narrow Programs (Passaic/Patterson/ Secaucus) Hours: Schedule per week: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (8:00am - 4:00pm) Job Summary: The Shift Leader provides on-site leadership and operational oversight during assigned shifts to ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment for clients in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation setting. This role supports client engagement in treatment programming, responds to crises, and ensures compliance with facility policies, licensing requirements, and clinical guidelines. The Shift Leader serves as a key point of contact during the shift, promptly documents and reports incidents, concerns, and operational or client-related issues to the onsite supervisor and leadership, and communicates effectively with clinical, medical, and administrative teams to support continuity of care. The role promotes teamwork, recovery-oriented care at all times. This is an awake position. Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain a safe, disciplined and caring therapeutic environment and maintain direct supervision of all clients In collaboration with the RLD director assist in covering the responsibilities of Residential Life Supervisor in his/her absence from the agency. Have a thorough knowledge of CC-Straight & Narrow’s Policies & Procedures and Clients’ Handbook and enforce the rules and structures contained therein. Provide guidance to and assign specific tasks to RL Associates on the shift, filling in, when necessary, to ensure their completion. Cover RL Associate shifts when understaffed. Provide crisis intervention and help de-escalate incidents as they occur Participate in client interventions, case conferences and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDT) as needed. Coordinate clients’ sick calls in coordination with the medical department Ensure clients attend Outside Appointments (OSAs) as scheduled and that a search is conducted upon their return according to policy. Ensure that daily client count sheet is prepared by RL personnel. Schedule and supervise clients’ daily housekeeping tasks during assigned shifts. Monitor and order all supplies for the program Conduct multiple daily checks of clients’ rooms and all other rooms and areas on the unit to see that they are in order. Complete, document and ensure the completion of client rounds at least every 30 minutes and verify the presence of all clients listed on the roster. Report and investigate any issues and/or damages to the client’s rooms, classrooms and other common areas via the CC-Straight & Narrow online repair system. Coordinate with food service personnel in advance of all activities that require changing a mealtime or reduce the number of meals required. Ensure Food Service department has all dietary restrictions and alternatives of clients that have received approval through the medical department. Ensure that new clients are greeted and oriented appropriately by all RL Associates. Wear assigned personnel uniform while on duty and ensure that all personnel follow the Dress Code Policy. Prepare Client Count Sheet, as assigned. Document client infractions/merits in the EHR system Ensure that all Clinical appointments are followed as per schedules Assist in facilitating Educational/didactic sessions for clients Ensure all family visits are conducted in a professional manner and adhere to applicable policies & procedures. Ensure daily tasks are completed before the end of the shift and endorse task to the incoming shift. Immediately informed the shift supervisor if the following personnel rations are not met on assigned shift -one (1) staff per twenty-four (24) client ratio during waking hours and one (1) staff per thirty (30) during sleeping hours, and two staff members at all times. Follow all Electronic Health Records (EHR) policies and procedures Complete a Departmental Orientation within 30 days to include but not limited to Emergency procedures, DMHAS and Reportable Events. In coordination with the Recreational Personnel ensure that all scheduled Recreational Activities are facilitated. Provide clients with approved non-prescription medication when requested in accordance with Policy & Procedure for “Non-prescription Medication kept on the Units.” Crosstrain as assigned in all CC-Straight & Narrow Programs Work location and schedule assignment may be subject to change based on agency need. Facilitate and document sessions as assigned included but not limited to: psychoeducational and H&I groups sessions Provide Transportation using company vehicles only to clients for various appointment Drive Company Vehicle to different locations for job tasks as assigned Conduct client drug and alcohol testing according to policy Provide Crisis intervention and help de-escalate incidents as they occur Remain on shift until your replacement arrives. Inform the supervisor onsite immediately of your replacement’s absence. Conduct searches of client’s person and property as per policy and procedure Maintain ethical conduct and appropriate boundaries at all times while delivering direct services to clients or representing the agency in accordance with agency standards and substance abuse best practices. Engages clients with professionalism and courtesy, both with verbal and non-verbal communication, works to de-escalate challenging interactions. Reports and documents behaviors as required to ensure a safe and respectful environment. You may not use personal cell phones while driving, while on duty, or while responsible for client supervision or care, except in emergency situations and in compliance with organizational cell phone and vehicle-use policies. Medicaid Credentialing & Documentation Compliance Maintain and satisfy all Medicaid-required qualifications and credentialing standards necessary to provide billable direct care services within the program. Deliver services in accordance with Medicaid, NJ FamilyCare, and applicable Managed Care Organization (MCO) requirements, funding sources, state contracts, state Fee for Service Initiatives (FFS), county contracts, etc. ensuring all activities are eligible for reimbursement. Accurately document all services provided to clients in a manner that fully supports Medicaid billing, medical necessity, and audit review. Complete documentation that is timely, complete, and compliant with all federal, state, and payer requirements, ensuring that services are verifiable and substantiated for reimbursement. Understand and adhere to the requirement that services not properly documented or performed by appropriately credentialed staff may not be billable under Medicaid funding. Qualifications: High school Diploma / General Education Diploma (GED); Associate degree preferred; with one (1) year of supervisory experience Working towards the CADC/Recovery Specialist, Addictions and Mental Health experience preferred Have and maintain CPR/First Aid certification or achieve CPR/First Aid /ServSafe certification within thirty (30) days from the date of hire. Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft computer programs and Electronic Health Records (EHR) Must have a driver's license, which is valid in the State of New Jersey and points on license not to exceed 5 points. Required to drive agency vehicles to transport service recipients on a regular basis. Please follow the Agency Vehicle Driver’s Agreement.
