Supply Chain Buyer

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide.

Job Purpose

The Buyer is responsible for procuring inventory and managing all aspects of the inventory procurement process. Buyers will develop and manage supplier relationships, as well as developing and maintaining product pricing and product date that is critical to the procurement process.

Responsibilities

The Role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Demand Planners and Supply Planners to procure inventory and satisfy the changing demands of our customer base.

  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to develop product and market knowledge about the materials they supply.

  • Source materials and process purchase orders for inventory goods and maintain updated and accurate delivery schedules.

  • Diagnose and resolve supplier invoicing and receiving issues to ensure supplier invoices are paid in a timely manner.

  • Create RFQ’s and analyze supplier responses for competitively bid products.

  • Communicate with Sales and Operations regarding market conditions, pricing trends, and assist with product knowledge as required.

  • Manager and maintain accurate product procurement data, such as suppler contract pricing, lead time information, unit weights, order multiples, etc.

  • Assist in creation of part numbers for new product lines and new inventory items.

  • Other Supply Chain related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Possess an undergraduate degree in related field or possess a high school diploma and 2 to 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree.

  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.

  • Work experience in Oracle Fusion Cloud – Procurement and/or Supply Chain Planning modules is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and intermediate=level knowledge of Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, pivot tables and vertical lookup).

  • The ability to learn MRC Global-specific software.

  • Strong organization and time management skills.

  • Establish internal and external business relationships using written correspondence, proper phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to detail, good decision-making skills, and willingness to exercise them.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office environment.

  • May require prolonged periods of sitting/standing.

  • Availability to work beyond core business hours, including evenings and/or weekends, as necessary to meet fluctuating business demands.
