Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Float Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year minimum License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience with patient ratio of 1:5-6 in MS and 1:4-5 in PCU - Proficiency in Epic charting system Description: Minimum experience required is 1 year. First-time travelers are accepted. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. The position requires floating to all Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units within the organization. The staffing ratio is 1:4-5 for PCU and 1:5-6 for MS and MS Tele. The unit systems used include Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR. Scrub color is navy blue. The role requires working every other weekend, averaging 6 weekends in a 13-week contract. No call requirements are included in this position. If one major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both holidays. If three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year’s Eve/Day. Full compliance is required to start on time. If compliance is not met, the start date may be delayed by two weeks due to the orientation schedule. Travelers will need to manage various diagnoses typical in Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units. Special skills necessary for this role include: - Arterial line management - Blood product administration - Cardiac telemetry - Care of ventilated patients - Central line care and management - Dysrhythmia interpretation - Telemetry monitoring - Tracheostomy care and management Additionally, familiarity with isolation precautions and IV insulin protocols is required. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. This position entails floating across various specialties within the facility.
