Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in York, Pennsylvania. Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections. Perform preventive maintenance. Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers when applicable. Identify root causes of failures and perform necessary repairs. Replace defective components as instructed. Complete facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers and drivers to assess complaints. Utilize the Shop Management System and electronic documentation. Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT). Provide support duties as required, including Service Island support. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred). Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work. Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred). Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred. Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire. Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check including motor vehicle records for the last 3 years. Additional Requirements Some positions require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle record checks, a road test, or customer-specific background and badge requirements.
