Job Description:

The Senior Network Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining critical client and internal Net56 network systems, ensuring uptime, resiliency, and seamless functionality of infrastructure services. This role involves implement, support, proactive monitoring and maintaining critical infrastructure systems and applications, and effective communication with clients and internal teams. As a key member of the Network Operations team, the engineer works closely with other departments to address service-impacting issues and maintain documentation across environments. The engineer is expected to provide highly responsive support, including 24/7 on-call availability for urgent network issues or outages. Because of these on-call responsibilities, candidates must live within 30 minutes of the Deer Park location.

Certifications:

• VMware Certification: VCP-VCF Administrator - required
• Veeam Certified Engineer+ (VMCE+) - preferred

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Network Systems Engineer is responsible for the implementation, administration, proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical enterprise infrastructure, systems and applications. This role ensures the availability, security, performance, and reliability of virtualized environments, backup systems, monitoring platforms, operating systems, security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.

Infrastructure Implementation and Support

• Design, implement, configure, support and manage VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machine environments.
• Design, implement, configure, support and manage Azure Infrastructure, Microsoft Windows, Server operating systems and Hyper-V infrastructure.
• Coordinate system upgrades, migrations, patches, and hardware refresh projects.
• Ensure critical system application disaster recovery readiness, and infrastructure resilience.
• Maintain backup system and conduct routine backup verification, recovery, and testing.
• Investigate and resolve backup failures and data protection issues.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Deploy and maintain SolarWinds Monitoring infrastructure.
• Continuously monitor the health, availability, and performance of critical systems and applications.
• Administer Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Enterprise Security Environment.
• Create and maintain dashboards, correlation searches, reports, and threat detection rules.
• Analyze infrastructure growth trends and resource utilization.

Physical Demands & Travel Requirements:

• Travel: This position requires up to 20% travel to client sites and varying work environments; applicants must have reliable transportation.
• Physical Capabilities: Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. The role requires being able-bodied with the ability to bend, squat, climb ladders, and perform physical hands-on work in varying degrees of work and client environments.

• Hands on skills; server hardware (Cisco UCS servers’ solution), storage systems (PureStorage solutions)
• Deep Understanding and hands on knowledge of Network and Firewall Infrastructure
• Knowledge of Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Enterprise Security is a plus
