Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Kearney, NE | Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0630–1830) | Every Other Weekend Required | Minimum 2 holidays within contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 40-bed PCU setting with an average daily census of 24, maintaining a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage and titrate IV drips including Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin
• Demonstrate competency with Arterial Lines and high-flow respiratory equipment; troubleshoot as needed
• Read and independently interpret telemetry monitor strips
• Care for a diverse adult patient population including cardiac med/surg, dialysis, oncology, vascular, sepsis, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer, renal failure, and respiratory diagnoses
• Float as needed to MedSurg or ICU (for PCU-acuity patients); if placed on call, must be available to arrive on-site within 30 minutes if called back

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Demonstrated competency with Arterial Lines
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health are not eligible
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required as a condition of the contract
• Must pass an open-book skills exam (minimum score of 90%) administered during orientation; failure to pass will result to contract termination
• All requested time off (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront prior to or at time of submission; additional RTO will not be approved

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or IMC setting
• Experience caring for culturally diverse patient populations
• Strong telemetry interpretation skills
• Adaptable team player with effective communication skills and openness to feedback
