Direct Support Professional (DSP)- Part Time

Job Description Looking for a Part‑Time Direct Support Professional (DSP)? We are offering flexible shifts in the residential setting, including 5‑9 am weekdays, 4‑8 pm evenings, and 10‑6 pm weekdays with weekends. The position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week. Summary Under general supervision, the DSP provides compassionate, least‑restrictive community‑based care to individuals, ensuring safety, support, transportation to appointments, and the necessary services that enable residents to live in the community. The goal is to empower residents to reach their full potential. Responsibilities Provide direct support and personal care as outlined in each individual’s ISP. Assist with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, meals, and housekeeping tasks. Support residents in exercising HCBS community integration rights. Offer training to increase self‑sufficiency per the ISP. Contribute input for ISP development regarding assessed needs, desires, and interests. Maintain accurate documentation of outcomes, support activities, significant events, health, mental status, etc. Complete all scheduled outcomes and record them promptly. Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean facility. Report any changes in residents’ behavior, health, or appearance to the supervisor. Administer medication accurately and document each administration. Stay knowledgeable about medication side effects and suggested changes in medication. Maintain a professional demeanor during all situations, including behavioral or medical emergencies and weather‑related events. Ensure the facility’s cleanliness meets the standards of New Point Life Services. Report any damage to the facility or its contents to the supervisor. Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions. Be knowledgeable about the medical conditions of all residents. Arrive at work on time, neatly dressed, with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Minimum of one year of experience providing care to individuals with disabilities. High school diploma or GED preferred. CNA, NA, and PCA credentials must be active and certified by the Board of Nursing of Virginia (preferred). Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Knowledge of developmental disabilities. Knowledge of home and community‑based settings. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Efficient organizational skills. Physical Demands and Work Environment The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle tools, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and smelling. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Staff are usually not exposed to weather conditions. Noise levels are moderate, and some travel may be required.
