From our 60,000-square-foot Miami Lakes facility, we support military, commercial, corporate, and rotorcraft customers worldwide and provide manufacturing services to several Fortune 500 companies.

AEM holds FAA, EASA, and UK CAA Part 145 approvals, AS9100D certification, and NADCAP accreditation. Our work includes rotors, armatures, stators, exciters, fields, coils, solenoids, and related components used in AC and DC aerospace generators and motors.

We are expanding our manufacturing capabilities, developing new aerospace programs, and strengthening our engineering organization.

The Opportunity

AEM is seeking a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer who is dedicated to solving difficult technical and production problems.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly with machinery, tooling, CAD, 3D printing, machined components, and production personnel. The successful candidate will not be limited to desk-based engineering. You will regularly work on the production floor with machinists, technicians, inspectors, Quality, and other engineers.

You will take ownership of problems from the initial investigation through the development and successful implementation of a solution. Depending on the problem, that solution may involve designing new tooling, modifying a manufacturing process, improving equipment, developing a repair, creating a prototype, or introducing an entirely new production method.

We are looking for a resourceful, open-minded engineer who is willing to investigate problems thoroughly, challenge assumptions, and pursue practical solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Take ownership of complex manufacturing and component-level problems from initial investigation through production implementation.
• Work directly on the production floor to understand failures, dimensional discrepancies, equipment limitations, tooling problems, and recurring manufacturing issues.
• Develop practical solutions by designing tooling, fixtures, gauges, components, and production equipment.
• Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to reduce labor hours, scrap, rework, and process variation.
• Design and produce prototype parts, fixtures, and tools using CAD and 3D-printing technologies.
• Apply hands-on machining knowledge when developing parts, tooling, repair methods, and production processes.
• Support manufacturing machinery, including process development, troubleshooting, modification, and improvement.
• Lead reverse-engineering projects from inspection and dimensional characterization through CAD development, tooling, prototyping, first article, and production release.
• Perform root-cause and failure analysis and develop effective corrective actions.
• Develop and document repair schemes, manufacturing processes, engineering orders, technical instructions, and shop-floor procedures.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials knowledge, fits, clearances, and sound mechanical design principles.
• Review engineering drawings, CMMs, SRMs, OEM technical data, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Provide engineering dispositions and technical direction for nonconforming parts and materials.
• Support first-article inspections, process qualifications, validation testing, and new product introduction.
• Identify opportunities to improve tooling, automation, inspection methods, equipment, and process controls.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Machining, Inspection, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and customers.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor for engineers, technicians, machinists, and production personnel.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to employees, customers, suppliers, and senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Approximately 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing, aerospace MRO, an OEM, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to solving difficult technical and production problems.
• Resourceful and persistent approach to problem-solving, including the ability to develop solutions through tooling design, equipment improvement, or process changes.
• Strong team player who works effectively with engineers, machinists, technicians, inspectors, Quality personnel, and production leadership.
• Open-minded approach and willingness to consider new ideas, challenge established methods, and test alternative solutions.
• Hands-on experience with machining processes, machined parts, and production tooling.
• Hands-on CAD experience designing mechanical parts, fixtures, tooling, and assemblies.
• Practical experience designing and producing parts, prototypes, fixtures, or tools using 3D printing.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing machinery and production equipment.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional inspection, tolerance analysis, materials, fits, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience developing manufacturing or repair processes and translating engineering requirements into clear shop-floor instructions.
• Experience with root-cause analysis, corrective action, and technical problem-solving.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Miami Lakes, Florida, or be prepared to relocate before beginning employment.
• Must be available to work full-time and on-site. This is not a remote or hybrid position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace repair station or component MRO experience.
• Experience with FAA Part 145, AS9100D, CMM/SRM requirements, or comparable aerospace regulatory and quality systems.
• Extensive reverse-engineering experience, particularly when original engineering data is limited.
• Experience with rotating equipment, including motors, generators, rotors, shafts, bearings, housings, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Experience designing and building tooling, fixtures, gauges, or production equipment.
• SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or Fusion 360 experience.
• CMM programming or advanced dimensional-inspection experience.
• Experience with rotating-component balancing.
• Familiarity with NADCAP special processes, including heat treatment, nondestructive testing, plating, welding, coatings, and vacuum impregnation.
• Knowledge of aerospace materials, heat treatments, surface treatments, and manufacturing specifications.
• Experience developing, documenting, or substantiating repairs for legacy aerospace components.

A Senior Manufacturing Engineer at AEM is expected to do more than complete assigned engineering tasks. You will be expected to own technical problems and drive them to resolution.
