Billing & Claims Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Claims Specialist to support the timely and accurate submission of healthcare claims and related account activities. In this role, you will help ensure claims are processed in compliance with payer requirements, support audit and legal documentation requests, and contribute to efficient revenue cycle operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative, billing, or healthcare revenue cycle experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and submit claims with appropriate supporting documentation to insurance payers.
• Print and mail claims, appeals, and other billing-related correspondence.
• Track and document claim submissions to support timely filing and proof of delivery.
• Process subpoenas, attorney requests, and related documentation while ensuring compliance with established procedures.
• Manage incoming and returned mail, researching and resolving address-related issues to improve future claim delivery.
• Respond to and manage department voicemail requests and inquiries.
• Support audit activities, document retrieval requests, DRS processes, and external billing audit requests.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve billing and documentation issues.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow established processes and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications.

Preferred

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Experience in healthcare billing, claims processing, revenue cycle, or medical office operations.
• Experience working with insurance authorizations.
• Familiarity with Epic or other electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Experience handling medical records, legal requests, audits, or payer correspondence.

This is a Contract position based out of Hanford, CA.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
