Patient Services Coordinator

Overview Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Service Coordinator/Receptionist in Colorado Springs. Cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel. Obtains and enters all authorization and correspondence relating to referrals in patients charts and computer. Schedules outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions upon request. Obtains necessary pre-certification as required. Handles new patient referrals, gathers necessary information, assigns the patient account number and schedules appointment. Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit. Maintains primary office scheduling book containing all physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage. Handles incoming phone calls from patients needing to schedule or reschedule appointments. Provides patients with accurate and legible appointment cards. Documents no shows in patient’s chart for missed visits. Follows up with patient to reschedule any missed appointments. Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed. Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation. Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office. Covers for other front office functions as requested Receptionist: Greet patients and visitors into the clinic in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. Obtain all appropriate forms as required. Obtain demographic and insurance information. Obtain copy of patient’s insurance cards and current driver's license for file. Update demographic and insurance information as needed in the system. Register all new patients into the system. Notify nursing staff of patient arrivals, placing charts in appointment order. Assist in preparing charts for next day’s appointments and prints schedules as needed. Collect co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit. Issues receipts if necessary. Distribute condolence cards to patients families as requested. Maintain lobby area in a neat and orderly manner. Identify no shows and forwards for patient notification. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Position requires at least 3 year office experience, medical office preferred. Have excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Proficiency with computer systems a requirement. Microsoft (Outlook, Word, and Excel) a plus.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range for telephone contacts. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
