Recruitment Number: 24-0513 Department: Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Location: Kulani Correctional Facility, Puna About the Position Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate recreation programs for an assigned corrections work area; conduct varied and comprehensive recreational activities and perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate recreation programs. Conduct varied and comprehensive recreational activities for inmates. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Legal Authorization: Citizen, national, permanent resident, or eligible under federal law. Education: Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, recreational therapy, leisure education, psychology, corrections, sociology, human development, or a related field. Coursework must include a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in subjects such as community recreation, physical fitness, abnormal psychology, counseling, behavior management, criminal justice, and human personality and behavior. General Experience: Minimum 6 months of progressively responsible professional work experience in an organized athletic/recreation program for groups, including planning, organizing, coordinating, and carrying out such programs. Specialized Experience: Minimum 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and conducting recreation programs and/or activities in a correctional setting. Supervisory Aptitude: Demonstrated potential for supervisory duties through successful completion of assignments or courses that involved supervisory responsibilities. Additional Requirements Criminal history check and comprehensive background investigation are required.
