Certified/Registered Pharmacy Technician, Per Diem

Per diem, varied hours/shifts based on operational needs.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, and other, using aseptic technique. (must be able to perform repetitive hand motions for IV Room assignments and prepacking.)
- Fills unit dose, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM), stock requisitions and maintain inventory levels in OR, Endo & OB.
- Delivers unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solution and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to the nursing units. (must be able to walk and/or stand for assigned shift)
- Fills medication labels, subject to final check by a pharmacist.
- Prepares pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.
- Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications. Receives and shelves supplies and medications. Performs cycle counts and monthly review of stock for expired medications.
- Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas.

Education/Experience Required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration exam; all requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee
- Must know basic IV admixture processes as well as sterile procedures.
- Must have good math, computer and communication skills.
- Must have clear understanding of medication names (brand and generic), common dosing and sig codes, and medical terminology.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Registration/Certification
- Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Technician
- Current PTCB certification or completion of 2 years of pharmacy school.
- Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB.
