Athletic Coordinator (Sports Information) (80%) / Kinesiology & Athletics Assistant Professor (20%)

Job Overview Cosumnes River College seeks an Athletic Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Kinesiology & Athletics. The faculty member reports to the Dean of Kinesiology, Health, Athletics, and the Athletic Director. The role includes coordinating sports information operations, teaching courses, and developing a Sports Information academic pathway. Responsibilities Coordinate sports information operations: writing, editing, and producing media guides, programs, brochures, press releases, digital publications. Serve as primary media contact, coordinating with College Public Information Officer for game results, statistics, schedules, rankings, postseason competition, student‑athlete recognition. Schedule and coordinate interviews between coaches, student‑athletes, and media representatives. Mentor students in athletics communications, statistics, broadcasting, and digital media production. Attend home athletic events to coordinate statistics and scoring; coordinate reporting results to governing organizations. Develop, update, and maintain athletics websites using CMS platforms such as SIDEARM and Presto. Maintain accurate rosters, schedules, bios, game files, and historical records. Plan, produce and publish engaging social media content; maintain consistent branding across all platforms. Coordinate, compile, verify, and maintain game and season statistics using statistical software. Assist with planning and coordinating home athletic events, including clock/scoreboard operation, livestream setup, and supervising game‑day personnel. Oversee press‑area operations to ensure accuracy, integrity, and non‑partisan game management. Coordinate athletic marketing, advertising, and promotional activities; secure sponsorships and donors where appropriate. Select, train, schedule, and coordinate student workers and game‑day staff. Ensure compliance with all conference and district policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Teaching and Academic Duties Teach courses within the Kinesiology and Athletics area and lead the development of the Sports Information academic pathway. Design and develop curriculum for Sports Information and Sports Management, including new courses, certificates, and potential degree pathways. Coordinate student participation in athletics communications and game‑day operations to align experiential learning with course learning outcomes. Integrate supervised, hands‑on practicum experiences connected to intercollegiate athletic events. Engage in curriculum development, assessment, and program review responsibilities for new and existing programs. Fulfilling professional responsibilities as required of all Los Rios faculty. Essential Functions Confidence and familiarity working with web technologies, including basic HTML and CMS tools. Advanced and demonstrated knowledge of statistical programs such as StatCrew, Presto, and Genius Sports. Update and maintain athletic website and athletic web pages, providing content to keep information current and accurate. Compute statistics and maintain accurate records. Coordinate content and postings with the individual responsible for website updates. Use social media platforms in a professional environment. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with stakeholders. Work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules. Demonstrated aptitude in social media and proactive, strategic communication. Actively participate in professional organizations such as the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA). Qualifications Master’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education; or Bachelor’s degree in any of the above plus a Master’s in a life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, physical therapy, or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in athletic or sports information operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with statistical software and game‑day operations. Strong written and oral communication skills. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
