THE OPPORTUNITY

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer (L4) to own major features covering the full technology stack within our insurance platform. Major components in our stack are built primarily on Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, but are always evolving. Senior engineers contribute to their future direction, helping choose the right technology for each project, including promoting the use of AI to assist with design, coding, and reviews. The Senior engineer drives the work and owns the result.

HOW THE WORK GETS DONE

The work is driven by engineers who understand the domain and own the outcome. AI is leverage, and most useful on the hard and tedious parts: comprehending unfamiliar code, mapping dependencies, refactoring safely, and moving faster on domain-intensive work without sacrificing correctness. As a senior engineer, you'll set the standard for AI-amplified development, including when to lean on the tools, when to slow down and validate, and how to stay accountable for everything that ships. You'll model that in your own work and help other engineers adapt to that model and elevate their understanding and effectiveness. This position requires to work hybrid onsite 2x/week in Boca Raton, FL, Denver, CO, or NYC. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Minimum 10 years of professional software development experience, including: • Software development experience in a distributed, microservices-based environment, including: o Backend development using Java, Spring Framework and related technologies, RESTful web services, and database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL) o Or a combination of backend and frontend development experience using modern JavaScript frameworks

• Writing, reviewing, testing, and validating code with full accountability for correctness, performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Evaluating system-wide impact including dependencies, downstream effects, and cross-system interactions before making changes
• Delivering in distributed, containerized environments, with a clear understanding of how systems build, deploy, and behave across environments
• Working with agile development methodologies, version control, test-driven development, and automated testing.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience, including:

• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining React-based frontend applications (React / TypeScript) using modern JavaScript and TypeScript development practice
• Mentoring less-tenured engineers and strengthening shared engineering practices.
