Shipping Load Planner in Middletown

Job Summary: Oversee all aspects of load planning including forklift operator movement, truck routing, and reconciliation. This is a 3rd shift position (11:00PM - 7:00AM). Responsibilities: Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including adherence to safety program and good housekeeping. Monitor and evaluate route for time efficacy and cost. Monitor and evaluate safe and efficient loading process of freight throughout shift. Inspect finished product periodically after loading to ensure high quality standards. Manage return goods. Manage finished items on the floor to ensure jobs are appointed and moved in a timely manner. Create delivery receipts for all loads once confirmed completed and after delivery confirmation. Inform Logistics Manager of any problems that may negatively impact department performance. Adhere to daily production schedules and recommend optimizations to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals. Communicate with other shift supervisors to avoid conflicts between shift changes. Establish high morale within department by showing fairness, consistency, and interest in employee problems while maintaining confidentiality. Oversee all employees assigned to the shipping dock; carry out supervisory responsibilities per policies and laws, including training, performance appraisal, rewarding, disciplining, conflict resolution, team building and coaching. Requirements: High school diploma or GED with reading, writing and math skills at minimum 10th grade level. Two years prior shipping experience in a supervisory capacity including truck routing. College and/or related technical experience. Two years experience in corrugated box industry. Two years experience as a forklift operator and/or truck driver. Two years experience dispatching trucks. Skills: Able to read and write in English; interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Mathematical Skills: Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate; apply concepts of high school math. Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or graphic form; deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; map reading and commercial truck routing; equipment design and capabilities supporting efficient operation; cost issues for daily decisions; quality standards; regulatory requirements including wage and hour, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License if experienced as such. Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; occasionally sit; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: Sometimes exposed to moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibration; noise level usually loud; protective hearing equipment must be used.
