Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to support a diverse mix of repair, custom, prototype, and production work. This role must preserve the craftsmanship and technical expertise our existing team has while helping the organization continue to advance - through technology, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will help bridge traditional machining knowledge with the next generation of manufacturing capabilities; by respecting traditional machining methods, and understanding when manual work provides value, while also embracing CNC technology, automation, and lean principles to achieve the best overall result.

Duties

• Set up and operate manual, mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, models, specifications, and work instructions.
• Determine appropriate machining processes, tooling, speeds, feeds, and setups.
• Manufacture custom parts, repair components, tooling, fixtures, and production items to required tolerances.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other inspection tools to perform quality inspections.
• Collaborate with departmental personnel to develop practical solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline processes.

Compensation may differ within or outside range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, qualifications, specialized skills, education, geographic location, and internal pay equity considerations.

Position Requirements

• Proven experience with programming, setup, and operation of CNC milling machines and CNC lathes (Mazatrol controls preferred)
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawings
• Proficiency in Mastercam or similar for design review and modifications
• Experience with programming for toolpath generation and optimization
• Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and manufacturing principles
• Ability to use measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines
• Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machining tolerances and dimensions
