Job Description Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our patients. The RT performs and analyzes patient x‑rays and reports results to Medical Providers, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the Urgent Care Centers. Responsibilities Perform x‑ray services for patients, applying appropriate x‑ray energy and positioning patients correctly, from newborn to elderly. Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews, confirming medical history, performing preliminary physical tests (vital signs) and escalating critical cases to provider. Perform point‑of‑care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to provider. Provide administrative support: maintain medical records, scan charts to patient files, conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up. Perform daily controls and calibration of equipment, maintain QA/QC logs, address equipment breakdowns, troubleshoot, and submit repair tickets. Collaborate with ordering/treating provider to determine necessary procedures or views for accurate diagnoses. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. Explain procedures to patients, ensure comfort and safety, and answer questions. Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging. Select appropriate radiographic settings to capture high‑quality diagnostic images. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X‑ray equipment, manage supplies. Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA. Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in electronic systems or logbooks. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Education High School Diploma required; Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Experience Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at time of hire (if applicable by state law). Knowledge Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary for X‑ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology. Skills Positioning patients properly for the X‑ray procedure. Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor. Following infection control and radiological safety procedures. Compensation Hourly rate: $26.00 – $34.00 based on years of experience. Monthly incentive pay based on performance metrics. Sign‑on bonus up to $10,000. Referral bonus opportunities.
