Cafeteria Cook

Cafeteria Cook is responsible for prepping, cooking and executing the employee cafeteria meals, keeping cafeteria items clean, organized and stocked. Assisting with prep for other events and outlets as directed.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Employee Cafeteria Execution: Expertly prepare and cook menu items for employee cafeteria adhering strictly to recipe specs and plating guides. Ensure during cafeteria service all utensils, plate-ware and menu items are stocked throughout meal times. Ensure PM/Overnight shifts meals are prepped and stored properly for associates. Clean employee cafeteria and all cook stations. Assist with prep/cooking for other events and outlets as directed by Sous and Executive Chef.
• Mis-en-Place: Ensure all food items are prepared before service (chopping, portioning, marinating) and that the station is fully stocked. Assist stewards as directed.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect food items for freshness and quality before preparation and before serving to the guest.
• Safety Compliance: Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure safety standards are met. Maintain a sanitized workspace at all times.
• Team Support: Assist other cooks during peak times and help with receiving and storing inventory.
• Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness:
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients and food items.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Inventory Management:
  • Assist with inventory checks and restocking as needed.
  • Notify management of any shortages or issues with ingredients.
• Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and quality service.
  • Communicate effectively with servers and other team members to coordinate orders.
• Compliance and Safety:
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
  • Report any kitchen equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management.
  • Must be fully familiar with high-volume restaurant orders
  • Must be able to use a knife, slicing machine, and grater.
  • At least three to five years of experience in a comparable operation.
  • Must possess a current and valid Food Handler's certificate
  • Demonstrated experience working in a professional kitchen with proficiency in handling both hot and cold food preparations.
