Location: Sheet Metal Fabrication Department: Maintenance Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment in a sheet metal fabrication environment. This role requires broad expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic automation systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical failures
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings
• Install, align, and rebuild industrial equipment
• Work closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance planning teams
• Support production startup, changeovers, and emergency repairs

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hot work, confined space, and fall protection
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, plant safety standards, and environmental regulations
• Participate in safety audits, job hazard analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives

Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective actions or upgrades
• Support reliability-centered maintenance initiatives
• Document maintenance activities accurately in the CMMS

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required
• 37+ years of multi-craft maintenance experience in steel, metal processing, or heavy manufacturing

Technical Skills

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capability
• Working knowledge of:
  • Industrial hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Welding/fabrication (MIG, Stick preferred)
  • Bearings, lubrication systems, and alignment
• Basic PLC troubleshooting experience required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and more with assistance
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
• Tolerance for heat, noise, dust, and outdoor conditions
