Leasing Consultant

Responsibilities Focus on the needs of others by listening, understanding, and showing empathy and respect. Provide excellent customer service to prospective and current residents, promote a quality living experience, generate and handle traffic, qualify prospective residents, lease apartments, and complete move‑in paperwork. Ensure model apartments are in touring condition. Orient prospective and current residents to the property, process renewal paperwork, and deliver documentation to residents on a monthly basis. Maintain accurate and detailed records of traffic activity by entering applicable information into the computer. Follow up with all prospective residents via phone, mail or email. Convert phone traffic into scheduled appointments to tour the property. Inspect apartments prior to move‑ins and ensure they are in move‑in condition by coordinating with the maintenance team. Create and maintain confidential resident files, reviewing move‑in paperwork with new residents. Complete weekly leasing reports accurately and timely. Ensure all open and close procedures are completed daily. Assist with ongoing resident relations throughout tenancy by responding to requests promptly and accurately. Shop for competitive properties. Inspect buildings and grounds for safety and cleanliness, and alert maintenance to items needing repair. Assist with processing work order requests and ensure timely completion. Provide clerical support such as answering phone calls, filing, and processing property invoices as needed. Assist with planning and implementing resident activities to increase retention. Comply with all company policies, applicable health and safety rules, and local, state, and federal laws. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma required. Minimum of one year of previous sales experience preferred. One year of previous residential leasing experience preferred. Skills and Requirements Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Prior experience in Yardi Voyager or an equivalent system preferred. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and sensitively with all levels of management. Sensitivity to confidential matters. Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment with a strong sense of urgency. Ability to relay technical concerns accurately and quickly. Capability to read, write, comprehend, and converse in English. Ability to use general office equipment such as telephone, fax machine, printer, copier, and key track system. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to defuse situations involving angry or difficult people. Must maintain a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and current auto insurance. Must comply with all safety requirements.
