Job Summary
The Floor Finisher I plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and appearance of facility flooring. This position is responsible for preparing, cleaning, repairing, and applying appropriate floor finishes to ensure surfaces are visually appealing, durable, and safe for residents, patients, visitors, and staff. The Floor Finisher I collaborates with the Environmental Services team to maintain facility standards and support a clean, welcoming environment.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be able to read, write, and understand verbal and written communication. 
• High School Diploma or GED preferred. 
• Previous experience in floor finishing, environmental services, housekeeping, or a related field preferred. 
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in a healthcare environment preferred. 
• Ability to safely operate floor care equipment and related tools. 
• Ability to follow established cleaning, maintenance, and infection prevention procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
• Certification in floor finishing or a related maintenance field. 
• Experience working in a healthcare, long-term care, or social assistance facility. 
• Familiarity with various flooring materials, finishes, sealers, and coatings. 
• Experience operating commercial floor care equipment. 
• Knowledge of preventive floor maintenance programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare flooring surfaces for finishing by cleaning, stripping, sanding, and repairing as necessary. 
• Apply various floor finishes, including waxes, sealers, and protective coatings, according to established procedures. 
• Operate and maintain floor care equipment in a safe and effective manner. 
• Conduct routine inspections of flooring to identify maintenance or repair needs. 
• Collaborate with Environmental Services and Maintenance staff to schedule and prioritize floor care projects. 
• Ensure floors are maintained in a clean, safe, and visually appealing condition. 
• Follow all safety guidelines regarding the handling and use of chemicals and equipment. 
• Maintain inventory of floor care materials, supplies, and equipment. 
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and repair needs to the appropriate supervisor. 
• Assist with special cleaning projects and facility-wide environmental services initiatives as assigned. 
• Support infection prevention and environmental safety standards throughout the facility. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform overhead lifting as needed. 
• Ability to lift and carry more than 50 pounds. 
• Ability to push, pull, and maneuver floor care equipment and supplies. 
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. 
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and floor finishing products while following appropriate safety procedures. 
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions throughout the facility.
