Position Description

Garrison Steel is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to service, inspect, and repair company equipment. This position requires a strong work ethic, good attendance, and the ability to work independently.

Primary Responsibilities

• • Service, troubleshoot, and repair equipment
  • Perform multipoint inspections on machinery
  • Ensure all on-highway equipment meets applicable DOT standards
  • Complete electronic diagnostics on equipment
  • Perform basic welding-machine repairs
  • Assist with the assembly and disassembly of field cranes
  • Inspect and repair overhead hoists
  • Identify and procure parts needed for repairs
  • Respond to roadside service calls
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Pay and Schedule

• • $20.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Minimum 40-hour workweek
  • Some travel required

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

• • Ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • General knowledge of tools and equipment repair
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Own a basic set of hand tools
  • Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
  • Ability to work safely and independently

The company will provide specialty tools and power tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• • Previous field-service or equipment-repair experience
  • Electrical or plant-maintenance experience
  • Understanding of DOT regulations
  • Class A CDL
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills
