CNC Operator

The duties provide the final step to material selection for the completion of the total door package before shipment to the customer, ensuring the highest quality and care is taken to exceed customer expectations and satisfaction. This position must use CNC equipment to machine aluminum extrusion materials for assembly. This includes drilling hole, cutting lengths, widths, and notches etc. so that materials fit together seamlessly during the assembly process. The employee must use care in selecting the appropriate color, length and materials for the individual order.

Major areas of responsibility include maintaining a safety-first mindset in all work activities; reading and interpreting job order instructions for individual customer orders; selecting correct materials and quantities for each order; following work instructions precisely to complete door packages; understanding daily production goals and working at a pace that meets or exceeds requirements; inspecting raw materials for defects or damage prior to machining; fabricating parts to precise dimensions using machine tools; selecting and running pre-set CNC programs per customer specifications; performing de-burring of products; determining offsets and adjusting on-screen values to maintain tolerance; changing and measuring tooling as needed; maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area; and performing other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor and/or Production Manager.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to use basic math, including fractions, for measuring and calculating dimensions; basic computer skills; strong attention to detail with fine visual and manual skills; proficiency in using hand tools, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments; ability to operate punch presses; comfort working in a fast-paced environment for extended periods; and ability to read and understand layouts, shop orders, and process control documents.

Education and experience include a high school diploma or GED required, at least 3 years' CNC and tooling experience required, ability to read and understand machining & assembly drawings, and intermediate to advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).

Physical demands include talking and hearing while performing the responsibilities of the job. This is a standing position for with some walking up to 10 hours per day on a concrete factory floor. Frequent use of hand and hand tools to assembly parts. Ability to lift 30 or more pounds both overhead and at waist level. The employee is required to walk, reach with arms and hands. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work environment includes occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Exposure to intermediate/loud noise is expected when working in the manufacturing environment. The work environment is climate controlled.
