RN - PCU

Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. Note that there is no guarantee of hours.

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide primary nursing care in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, which includes a 3-bed Step Down ICU and 12 telemetry beds. Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, telemetry strip reading, and performing fingerstick blood sugar tests. Equipment utilized includes Meditech charting, Pyxis for medications, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring.

Provide nursing care and monitor patients in a Progressive Care Unit.

Perform telemetry monitoring and strip reading.

Administer fingerstick blood sugar tests as needed.

Utilize Meditech charting for patient records.

Administer medications using Pyxis system.

Monitor patients using BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment.

At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year.

Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred.

Must possess an active State of Hawaii RN license by the start of the assignment.

ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications preferred.
