Director - Loan Origination

Macdonald & Company has been exclusively retained to find a Director of Originations by a premier private real estate lender and alternative investment manager focused on multifamily, residential, and construction financing across the United States. With billions in completed loan originations and a substantial active servicing portfolio, the firm has established itself as a leading capital provider within the real estate lending industry. The company operates through a vertically integrated platform, allowing it to manage the full lifecycle of the lending process in-house while delivering speed, certainty of execution, and a high level of service to borrowers and partners. Backed by institutional capital relationships, a strong balance sheet, and an experienced operations infrastructure, the organization is continuing to expand nationally. Overview As the company continues to expand, they are seeking a results-driven Director, Loan Originations, to lead business development efforts within the Texas market. This role will focus on originating and structuring construction loans for residential real estate projects, managing borrower relationships, and driving overall loan production. The ideal candidate will possess a strong credit background in real estate lending, particularly within construction financing, along with a proven ability to build and maintain long‑term client relationships. Experience across multifamily, single‑family residential (SFR), subdivisions, and other residential construction asset classes is highly preferred. Responsibilities Originate and structure construction loan financing for residential real estate projects, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk parameters. Conduct initial credit and borrower screening to evaluate financial viability, project feasibility, and overall lending risk prior to advancing loan opportunities. Gather and review preliminary documentation required for loan submissions, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal credit standards. Partner closely with internal credit, legal, underwriting, and operations teams to facilitate efficient loan processing and funding execution. Manage a primarily self‑generated book of business while maintaining a high level of client service and developing new borrower relationships through networking and proactive business development. Serve as a brand ambassador for the platform by attending industry conferences, networking events, and real estate gatherings to promote the firm’s lending solutions and market presence. Act as a thought leader within the local real estate community by providing insight into market trends, construction financing strategies, and broader lending dynamics. Develop and maintain relationships with developers, builders, brokers, and other real estate professionals throughout the region. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. Relevant experience in construction loan origination within the Texas market, preferably focused on residential and multifamily real estate. Strong credit knowledge related to real estate lending and construction financing. Proven business development, client relationship management, and portfolio management capabilities. Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team‑oriented environment. Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CRM platforms, and other lending‑related systems.
