Sr. Software Engineer II, AVP

Summary: Contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of one or more Alpha Data Platform modules or components as a senior member of an agile scrum team. Provide engineering troubleshooting assistance to customer support teams and other development teams within Charles River.Responsibilities:Work under minimal supervision to analyze, design, develop, test, and debug small to medium software enhancements and solutions within Charles River’s business and technical problem domains including modifications to core frameworks and other primary facilities critical to system operation.Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to turn business requirements of moderate complexity into working and sustainable softwareContribute as a Sr. Individual Contributor within a team of top engineers using Agile methodology.Participate in the design of product architecture within the team’s scope of responsibility pertaining to new development.Direct problem solving for projects or major phases of projects to resolve software technical issues.Develop, test, debug, and implement software programs, applications and projects using Java, JavaScript (React), SQL or other related software engineering languages as well as keeping abreast of emerging technologies impactful to CRDs business.Identify ways of improving development test methodologies contribute to and related test methodology frameworks.Provide thoughtful insight and suggestions in code reviewsWrite unit and automation tests to ensure a high-quality productConduct manual tests (if necessary) to ensure a high-quality productProvide troubleshooting on large, mission-critical client implementations.Contribute to written design and API documentation, and participate in customer documentation processActively participate in the agile software development process by adhering to the CRD scrum methodology including attending all daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectivesParticipate in cross-team group activities to complete assignmentsVery good written and verbal communication skillsQualifications:Education:B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.Experience:4-8 years of experience in development - preferably in FinTech (financial markets).Experience with developing applications/microservices using Java & Spring BootExperience in front-end web development, ideally using ReactExperience in the development of cloud-native services (Azure experience a bonus)Knowledge of SQL and experience with RBDMS.Able to contribute to design specs with some assistance from senior staffExperience with Kafka & Snowflake will be a strong asset.A minimum of 3 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desiredSalary Range: $90,000 - $157,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified.
