Senior Accountant

Parker Development CO

We are looking for a high-caliber Senior Accountant to join a lean, sophisticated finance team supporting real estate development and construction. This is not a back-office seat. The right candidate will own meaningful work from day one across the full accounting cycle, including development projects, property management, investment accounts, and owner-occupied commercial leased property, while working cross-functionally with operations, tax advisors, and title companies. This role is designed as a growth seat, not a staff role. We are hiring with succession in mind and want someone who is ambitious to grow with the company. Career Growth Path Near term: Senior Accountant with direct exposure to leadership, deal activity, and the full close and reporting cycle Mid term: Controller, owning the accounting function, team, and financial reporting end to end Long term: CFO candidate as the company scales, with the opportunity to shape capital strategy, investor reporting, and financial leadership of the business Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Financial Reporting Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the integrity of the general ledger (GL) Assist in the preparation and review of internal financial statements Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Contribute to process improvements and accounting best practices Project & Development Accounting Participate in job costing, project budgeting, and financial tracking for development projects Work closely with operations to understand construction management and project workflows Analyze project costs and variances against budgets Coordinate title work for custom lot closings, including preparing statements and supporting documentation for review and execution Fixed Assets, Property & Investments Manage fixed assets, including review of coding in Intacct for additions, disposals, transfers, and related activity Review Property Management monthly journals and accompanying reports for accuracy and completeness Perform reconciliations for investment brokerage accounts Prepare quarterly CAM billing analysis for owner-occupied commercial leased property Tax & Advisory Coordination Assist with preparing tax projections and a variety of income tax related matters Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field CPA preferred, but not required (candidates actively pursuing CPA will be supported) Background in public accounting (tax exposure a plus) 1-2 years of experience in private industry preferred Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting Interest in real estate, construction, or project-based accounting Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills Experience with Sage Intacct a plus Ambition to grow into a Controller and eventually CFO-track role; takes ownership, communicates clearly, and operates with a high standard for accuracy and professionalism Technology & AI Proficiency Hands‑on experience using AI assistants in a professional setting (Claude by Anthropic strongly preferred) Ability to use AI for reviewing contracts, summarizing reports, drafting memos, analyzing variances, and automating repetitive accounting tasks Thoughtful judgment about when AI output needs verification, particularly for numbers, citations, and compliance-sensitive work Curiosity about applying AI to job costing, reconciliations, CAM analysis, and close-process efficiencies #J-18808-Ljbffr
