About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down, Med-surg Pediatrics, Med-surg Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: Current ACLS/PALS certification preferred Must-Have: Experience in Step Down and Med-surg settings Description: Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for each patient's age. Conduct head-to-toe assessments on all patients and perform reassessments in accordance with policy. Revise the standard of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate the overall plan daily for effectiveness. Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and assess the effectiveness of learning, including family involvement as appropriate. Assess and reassess pain management techniques utilized. Educate patients and families regarding pain management. Demonstrate the ability to perform treatments and provide services corresponding to the level of licensure. Communicate appropriately and clearly with nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians. Consult with other departments as necessary to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Provide care that is appropriate to the condition and age of patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and adult populations. Assist physicians with procedures and perform services that require technical and manual skills. Demonstrate the ability to be flexible, organized, and function effectively in stressful situations. Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity while ensuring patient confidentiality. Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Function as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Interact professionally with patients and families and involve them in the formation of the plan of care. Maintain a positive working relationship within the department and with other departments. Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies. Identify and address psychosocial needs of patients and families and communicate with social service/discharge planners regarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs. Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary within the scope of licensure.
