Job Description Summary Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at a competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. Minimum Training and Education Associate degree in nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Required. Certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an equivalent, or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required. Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas, working in confined/cramped spaces, performing functions from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, performing gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping, fine manipulation, reaching overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, using lower extremities for balance and coordination, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to lift or lower 50 lbs. from or to the floor from 36 inches unassisted, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs., exert up to 50 lbs. of force. Examples of required force: transferring a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist requires 50 lbs. of force; every 100 additional pounds requires assistance from another healthcare worker; 20 lbs. needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet; 25 lbs. required to push a stretcher with one hand. Vision: 20/40 corrected in one or both eyes, ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at distance, match or discriminate colors, determine distance/relationship between objects, depth perception, and good peripheral vision. Hearing: maintain required acuity, with correction if necessary. Multitasking and Fine Motor Skills: perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Stress Management: ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Shift Flexibility: ability to work rotating shifts, overtime as required, in a latex‑safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions; selected positions may require maintaining olfactory sensory function or respirator use.
