Step into a day where your code keeps conveyors humming

You start your morning with a walk-through of the facility, verifying that conveyors, sortation lines, PLCs, scanners, vision systems, print-and-apply units, and SCADA dashboards are operating within design limits. By mid-morning, you’re fine-tuning an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix routine in RSLogix 5000 to eliminate a recurring jam. After lunch, you coordinate a licensed upgrade with an outside contractor, validate safety interlocks, and push a reliability improvement from concept to the production network. When an unexpected alarm hits, you’re the first call—triaging remotely, mobilizing help, and getting the line back to green. Your impact is uptime, safety, and operational excellence—every single day.

What you’ll own

• Champion a zero-incident mindset; follow all codes, regulations, and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Troubleshoot, modify, and document material handling control software across PLC/PC controllers, with deep work on Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix and RSLogix 5000.
• Serve as first-line escalation for MHE controls—on-site and remote—during and after business hours; respond rapidly to emergencies and coordinate assistance.
• Inspect systems to confirm performance stays within design capability and client-prescribed operating conditions.
• Scope work, initiate requests, schedule, and oversee outside contractors for proprietary work, licensed installs, upgrades, and inspections of specialized systems.
• Engineer process and reliability solutions end-to-end—from concept through network implementation.
• Monitor and diagnose industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS‑I), motor control systems, servo and variable frequency drives, and electrical distribution.
• Track MHE performance metrics; partner with site teams to eliminate electrical root causes of throughput deficiencies.
• Communicate proactively with leadership, operations, and maintenance on technical risks, timelines, and production impacts.
• Lead failure reviews and process analyses; recommend improvements and targeted retraining to prevent recurrence.
• Perform control system assessments to sustain and elevate equipment reliability.
• Build strong relationships with our client and Operations Maintenance teammates; pitch in with other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Day shift, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST, with weekend on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 2–5 years relevant experience; equivalent education/experience combinations considered.
• Participation in at least two full design cycles (specification, component selection, programming).
• 2+ years working with PLC programming, robotics components and controls, and SCADA-based monitoring/control.
• Flexibility to support varying shifts/areas as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Independent problem-solver able to act on general instructions with minimal oversight.
• Meets physical demands: stooping, standing, walking, stair/ladder climbing, and safely lifting/carrying 50+ lbs.
• Strong communicator capable of conveying sensitive/complex information and setting clear performance expectations.

Preferred

• 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent in control systems troubleshooting/programming.
• Background supporting diverse conveyor and sortation technologies.
• Hands-on experience with robotic maintenance.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Excellent organization with an inquisitive, analytical mindset.
• Strong math aptitude for percentages, fractions, and related calculations.

Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, RSLogix 5000, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS‑I), servo drives, VFDs, SCADA platforms, scanners, vision, and print‑and‑apply systems.
